Family Camps
Family Camp invites campers of all ages to enjoy intergenerational experiences. Mornings are spent in age group classes, afternoons are spent playing ball, swimming, making crafts, or just sitting and relaxing. Evening vespers and activities such as square dancing and corn roasts round out the day. Come join us for a fun-filled week whether you are single, married, grandparents with grandchildren etc.
Family Camp 1 July 12-18, 2009
Registration Deadline: July 2, 2009
Directors: Rev. David and Rev. Beth Long-Higgins
In Celtic Christian spirituality "the thin place" is described as that place where heaven and earth seem to touch. Family Camp 1 offers an opportunity to experience "the thin place" at Dunkirk. No matter what kind of family yours may be, no matter if you are married or single, Family Camp 1 seeks to provide a time and a space where God's love can grow in your life.
Whether its in different morning classes designed for infants through adults, taking a stroll through the woods, working on jewelry in Beth's beadery, fashioning a walking stick or other project in the wood, working on a craft in the craft barn, square dancing, storytelling, swimming, watching incredible sunsets at Vespers, or just having to time to slow down and be present to old friends and new, Family Camp 1 offers a space to discover again God's presence in "the thin place".
If you have questions about Family Camp 1, we invite you to contact us either at davelonghiggins@earthlink.net or bethlonghiggins@earthlink.net . We hope you will join us for a remarkable week of spiritual nourishment and joy-filled Christian community from July 12th through the 18th at Dunkirk Conference Center.

Join our family for a week like no other at the Dunkirk Conference Center. No matter whether you are single, mom/dad and kids, grandparents, or single parent with kids, you are part of our family for this week.
From the moment you register on Sunday afternoon until the time you depart on Saturday morning you will know a sense of belonging; of coming home to God.
There will be time for solitude and meditation and time for fun and fellowship. Woven through all will be music and praise. You may join us in early morning prayer. “When morning gilds the skies my heart awaking cries May Jesus Christ be praised!”
Evening may find you worshipping at Vesper Point as you watch the sun setting over Lake Erie. “Day is dying in the west. Heaven is touching earth with rest.”
Generous meals are served family style in the Dining Hall. After breakfast, we will gather for intergenerational activities followed by age appropriate studies.
A well-deserved rest time follows lunch. Then you’ll be off to the craft shop, the pool or maybe a hike to the beach. There will be plenty of time for volleyball or other games.
Evening activities may include a corn roast, dancing, game nights and the ever popular talent show.
You’ll wonder where the week went when Saturday morning arrives. As you say farewell to your new family members you will promise to return in 2009 for another memorable week at Family Camp!
“The more we get together the happier we’ll be!”
