One Piece at a Time- Autism Spectrum Disorder Camp

Date: May 23-25 and August 29-31

Directors: Jennifer Vacanti

Adults: $100.00
Children: $50.00

Experience: Jennifer has been a Director of Explorers Camp for the past 3 years. She is a Special Education teacher with more than 20 years in the field. She is a member of Epiphany UCC where she is the Sunday School Director and a teacher. Jennifer is also a Board Member for Dunkirk and Chairperson of Program Committee.

Ages: This camp is for families with children up to 12 years old who have an Autism Spectrum Disorder.

In today’s busy world it is difficult for many families to find that time when they can relax and reconnect with one another.  Having a child with Autism can make that even more difficult, yet in many ways even more essential.  Kids with Autism and their families need a unique situation to feel emotionally safe to rejuvenate and play together.

Our One Piece at a Time Retreat will do just that for families.  The weekend will be filled with activities for parents and children as well as the family as a whole.  There will be opportunities to learn and share or to just relax.   There will be volunteer support for each family.   These volunteers will help facilitate camp life for families as well as lend a helping hand when they can.  Gluten/casein free choices will be available at all meals. We want to give parents the opportunity to learn some strategies and activities that will help them better understand their child(ren) and work with them when they return home.

Dunkirk Camp & Conference Center is a place where all children can just be kids and where family time takes center stage.  So, pack up the kids and let us take care of the cooking and cleaning… all you need to do is have fun!
