Buildings & Grounds
Dunkirk Conference Center is an ideal location for seminars, retreats and conferences. The following descriptions refer to the structures and facilites found at DCC. Click here to view a map of the Conference Grounds.
General Information
The grounds are level and walking should not present difficulties for anyone young or old. There are paved walkways to almost every point on the grounds. Ample parking is adjacent to the Administration Building. There are 2 volley ball courts, a large athletic field, appropriate for softball, soccer and similiar activities.
Activity Center
Capacity about 250. Stage, sound system, opens to each side with seven garage doors in place. Snack bar around the corner. A shady picnic grove and newly updated playground are adjacent.
Craft Shop
A fully equipped facility for use by all during the camping season.
Pilgrim Lodge
Completely winterized, two story, sleeps 27 upstairs, showers and lavatory on second floor. Fully outfitted meeting room and kitchen on the ground floor. Can feed and prepare meals for 40.
Swimming Pool
Olympic sized L-shaped pool with a deeper diving area. Complete changing rooms, showers and lavatories. Fully accessible. A wading pool and basketball court are adjacent.
Nature Trail and Lake Vista
The Nature trail along Lake Erie is a delight. The path is level and paved; handicapped friendly. A walker can circle back through the beautiful wooded area to the Activity Center and playground. Small, rustic outdoor worship area is adjacent.
First Row Of Cabins
Cabin Numbers 1 through 7. Most are handicap accessible. Cabin No. 3 is the First Aid facility, with two beds available for those not feeling well. A Nurse is on duty during the camping season, an emergency phone is located here. Cabin No. 7 is for Staff housing only.
First & Second Circles Of Cabins
Eight cabins in each circle, each cabin has four rooms, with three beds in each room. Bathroom with a sink, toliet and hot water. Cabins are heated. Without using upper bunks, 168 persons can be accommodated using all three cabins areas. Capacity can be increased to 252 by using upper bunks.
Mothers’ Memorial Building
Up-to-date microphones and speakers. The large auditorium can accommodate 250 for meetings, worship, square dancing, film presentations, weddings, etc. The porch on three sides, which looks toward Lake Erie is a beautiful spot. There is a large wood burning fireplace for cool evenings. Newly remodeled bathrooms.
Vesper Point
An outdoor chapel to rival any you might find anywhere. What many remember most about Dunkirk is the beauty of the breathtaking sunsets over Lake Erie as they participate in well thought-out worship services.
Classroom Building
Adjacent to Mothers’ Memorial, this building has four meeting rooms, with a capacity of 40 for each, plus mens and womens showers and lavatories.
The Manager’s House
Permanent residence of the full-time Camp Director, Julie LaGrow, who can answer most questions for you. An emergency phone is available here.
Caretaker’s House
Second residence on the property used for housing staff members.
Administration Building
This building houses offices, a camp gift store, and contains many historical pictures and records of the Conference Center over past years. A pay phone is on the porch and emergency phone in the office.
Dining Hall
The dining hall seats 300 for delicious meals and is headed by a professional food service staff. For many, dinner in the dining hall is a highlight of their Dunkirk experience. The food is great. The atmosphere congenial. The singing of songs is just plain fun!
